Webinar Description: Through a combination of scholarly publications and personal experiences shared by the presenter, attendees of this webinar will learn about peer support for individuals with substance use disorders. The webinar will provide a description of peer support, its value and utility, and its role in the continuum of care and treatment of substance use disorders and the Recovery process.

Educational Objectives:

  • Define peers support and lived experience
  • Describe the role of peer support in substance use treatment and recovery
  • Understand how to engage peer support specialists and individuals with lived experience as part of an interprofessional team
  • Describe how to incorporate peer support into social work education

Continuing Education information:

CSWE (ACE Approval #1163) is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as ACE providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. CSWE maintains responsibility for this course. ACE provider approval period: 1/23/2021–1/23/2024. Social workers completing this course receive 1 CE continuing education credits.
